10 on the 10th

Another month gone by already? That means it's time for Shimelle's 10 on the 10th again!

This month, I bring you another 10 crafty projects. Mostly layouts, with a card and a tag thrown in! Most of these were completed at a recent crop at my local scrapbook store, The Papercraft Clubhouse. Love that place, so had to give them a shout out!

January Counterfeit Kit Layouts

Well, despite a busy January (painting and rearranging our guestroom/office, resuming classes, etc.), I did manage to create four layouts with my January counterfeit kit. I thought the papers worked well for family layouts, and layouts of visits to historical sites. (Click on any of the pictures to see them in a larger version).

10 on the 10th: Ireland Vacation!

I've been MIA lately, off enjoying my summer vacation. Now I'm back at work, back to a routine, so hopefully I'll be blogging a bit more regularly again. Shimelle's 10 on the 10th seems like a good way to jump back into the blogosphere! I present to you a recap of my recent trip to Ireland...

(Half of) Ireland in 10 days:

Day 1: Landed in Dublin one day late due to a cancelled flight; luggage missing; drove to Belfast.

Jet-lagged and sleep-deprived, but happy to be celebrating our 7th anniversary in Northern Ireland!

Day 2: Belfast to Portrush via the Antim Coast & Giants Causeway

Ken Harper, our fabulous tour guide of Falls Road and Shankhill Road, gave us an excellent overview of  The Troubles

Day 3. Enjoyed another packed day in Northern Ireland, before heading to Letterkenny.

Day 4: Reunited with luggage! Day trip to Derry, the walled city.

Day 5: Woke up in the middle of the night with food poisoning (curse you, salad from Derry!). Slept half the day away, then managed a queasy drive from Letterkenny to Westport, my first time driving on the left side of the road! Slept some more, managed some won-ton soup for dinner, then back to bed!

The only pictures I managed to take this day were of our B&B in Westport!

Day 6. Feeling better! Drove from Westport to Galway via Connemara.

Day 9. Spent the day exploring Dublin and visiting the Guinness Storehouse

Day 10. Farewell Dublin! Spent our last Euros on airport souvenirs, then headed home to Connecticut and no electricity thanks to Hurricane Irene. Hopefully someday we'll get back to visit the southern half of the country!

10 Things

Shimelle has started a new blog feature, 10 things on the 10th of the month, and has encouraged folks from her Beyond Blogging for Scrapbookers class to play along.


For my first installment of Ten Things, I give you 10 things I did on my recent trip to Tennessee:

1. Visited the grave of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash (this is a weird past-time of my husband's and mine...we visit lots of dead musicians.  I'll have to compile them all in another post!)

2. Made friends with my new "niece" Sadie, the miniature Doberman Pinscher my brother in law gave to his wife on the occasion of his retirement. I think the present was as much for him as it was for her!

3. Sent my brother in law off to the world of retirement, after working for the Air Force for 30 years.  It was a Hawaiian themed luncheon, in case you couldn't tell!

4. Learned how they make Jack Daniels. Very fun and free tour of the distillery! Check it out if you're ever near Lynchburg, TN.

5. Caught a show at the Grand Ole Opry

6. Toured the legendary Sun Studios, where Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and others got their start.

7. Watched the duck march at the Peabody Hotel

10 Ate lots of barbecue!
