This month, we were challenged to use our kit and be inspired by a farmer's market...by the displays, colors, textures, produce and over all feel of the place. I took the challenge quite literally and created a page featuring photos of my Community Sponsored Agriculture (CSA) share. This was my first year participating in the CSA, and even though we're only two weeks in, I'm loving it!

I can't tell you how much I love that pink woodgrain paper! I think I need to buy some more. Those little wooden hearts also make me happy!

When I was creating this page, I realized I didn't include any green patterned paper in my kit, so I stuck with the pink, blue, and yellow I did have, and added in some green accents (the word stickers and buttons) to tie  in with the green of the produce.

The overall design of the page was based on Shimelle's recent Sketch to Scrapbook Page. The major difference is that I used four 4x4 photos instead of one 4x6. You can see her version over at her blog.

June Counterfeit Kit

It's been a while since I've played along with the ladies at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog. I love the concept, and enjoyed the kits I have made in the past, so after coming off a successful Layout a Day challenge in May, I thought I would try to keep the scrappy momentum going!

This month, the challenge was to create a kit inspired by one of these from Scraptastic.

I loved the blue, green, and yellow color combo of the first kit, but I don't have many of those colors in my stash, so I opted to counterfeit the second kit.

I didn't have any of the exact papers in my stash, other than a 6x6 pad of Amy Tangerine "Yes Please", but I had just picked up some new Echo Park "A Perfect Summer" which had a similar color scheme and overall feel. So for my papers, I went with three sheets from that collection, and mixed in some older papers by Jillibean Soup, Echo Park, and American Crafts.

I don't use much cardstock these days, so I included just two sheets of white, one yellow, and one blue. I also threw in a bunch of scraps of patterned paper strips in shades of green, yellow, orange, and pink, as well as the entire 6x6 Yes Please pad. This should come in handy for making embellishments.

I tried not to go too crazy with embellishments, as I just don't use that many on my pages. I picked some Amy Tangerine tags, Hero Arts gems and pearls, Studio Calico wood veneer hearts and arrows, a cute glassine bag I received with an ATC swap, a roll of pink washi, and assorted summery die cuts.

I wanted some variety for my titles, so I selected an old sheet of Basic Grey (Urban Prairie) letter stickers, some old Echo Park (Country Drive), new corkboard Thickers, and some old Basic Grey chipboard letters. 

Here is the finished kit, all bagged up and ready to go! Time to make a page!

January Counterfeit Kit Layouts

Well, despite a busy January (painting and rearranging our guestroom/office, resuming classes, etc.), I did manage to create four layouts with my January counterfeit kit. I thought the papers worked well for family layouts, and layouts of visits to historical sites. (Click on any of the pictures to see them in a larger version).

Counterfeit Kit Challenge

It's been a while since I've played along with the ladies over at Counterfeit Kit Challenge. I love the concept (use the supplies and stash you have on hand to counterfeit a kit from a kit club), but I haven't been able to participate in the last few months.

This month, they challenged us to counterfeit a December kit from Cocoa Daisy. I was inspired by the vintage feel of the Amber Snowflake kit, so I decided to build my kit around some newer papers in my stash, Echo Park's Times and Seasons.

Counterfeit Kit Blog Hop: Random Facts at 40

The challenge this month was to use our kits to create a page or mini album all about ourselves with at least one "I" statement on it.  Here's my page, based on a PageMaps sketch from the Spring Issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today:

I knew I wanted to create a layout about me at 40, so I decided to play off the numbers theme and count up some important factoids about my life so far.

Everything came from my original kit except for the letter stickers...dug into my stash for them!  I enjoyed playing with the Basic Grey Elements stickers...it was fun layering them and embellishing with brads.

Birthday Girls: June Counterfeit Kit

Hello! Just popping on with a quick post to share another layout I made with my June Counterfeit Kit.

This one came together pretty quickly....a PageMaps sketch, patterned paper, ribbon, and one chipboard element was all it took.  Oh, and some last minute doodling with liquid pearls!

Must Love Dogs: June Counterfeit Kit

I finally broke into my June Counterfeit Kit this Tuesday.  I was going to a friend's house to scrap, and I knew I wasn't going to have a lot of time to complete many pages.  So I just grabbed my tools, my counterfeit kit, and a few pictures and I was good to go.  I didn't plan out any pages in advance, but I did try and select photos that would go with the feel and colors of the kit.  In the end, I didn't get a lot done (our 2 hour lunch break cut into actual scrapping time!) but I'm happy with the results.

Here's one of the layouts I completed:

The pictures are of my niece Elena with her two dogs.  I based this layout on one by Sheri Reguly in the spring issue of Scrapbook and Cards Today. I like how it focuses on the pictures and patterned paper and uses minimal embellishments.

I cut the butterflies from the patterned paper, adhered them with pop dots, added a bit of liquid pearls, and called it done!

June Counterfeit Kit Challenge

I missed the May Counterfeit Kit Challenge (just too busy at work!) so I am looking forward to playing along again this month.

The Inspiration Kit for June is by Burlap and Buttercups. Very pretty and summery! You can see the original kit here.  Click here to see what the "Masters of Forgery" created for their kits.

I did a pretty straightforward copy of the kit. I didn't have any Basic Grey "Hello Luscious" but I did have some papers from their recent "Sweet Threads" line, so I used those along with their alphabet stickers. I also threw in a few sheets of patterned paper from Little Yellow Bicycle's Elizabeth Park line, some old Creative Imaginations scalloped, lined paper, and an old Making Memories die-cut scallop paper.  All the patterned paper is rounded out by 6 sheets of Bazzill in pink, blue, green, yellow, off-white, and kraft.

Last month I went overboard with the embellishments, so I tried not to go crazy this month.  I included some old BG painted brads, green pushpins, yellow ribbon, old chipboard frames, and a set of Jenni Bowlin butterflies. I may also make some counterfeit bloomers using the patterned paper and my trusty Big Shot die cut machine.

Counterfeit Kit Blog Hop: Ready For My Close-Up

Hello!  If you found your way to my blog through the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog Hop, welcome!  If this is your first time here, I hope you'll take a few minutes to check out some of my other posts. If you're one of my regulars and want to follow along with the entire hop, you can begin at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge site.

I've been following the Counterfeit Kit Challenge for a while now, but this is the first month I actually made a kit and actively participated.  You can see the "original" kit here, and my "counterfeit" kit here.

For this Design Team Inspiration Challenge, we were asked to visit the Design Team's blogs and be inspired in some way to create a project using our own kit. There were so many great projects to choose from, but I ultimately was inspired by this layout by Jemma aka JimJams. 

I think I was drawn in by the cute doggie pictures as well as the overall design.  I ended up doing a pretty straightforward scraplift of her design, even using my own "cute doggie" picture!

The sweetie-pie in the picture is my four-year-old Chocolate Lab, Melody, who is a very willing model! I kept the layout fairly simple, choosing to layer lots of patterned paper, and go easy on the embellishments.  Those little acrylic flowers are by Webster's Pages, and I love them, so sweet and tiny! They were a recent purchase, but everything else had been in my stash for a few months to a few years!

My page uses patterned paper from three different manufacturers (Echo Park, Bo Bunny, and Scenic Route) which is quite a departure from my usual one-coordinated-line per page style, but I'm happy with the result. Definitely need to do this more often!

Counterfeit Kit Challenge: Two layouts and a card

I've been enjoying playing with the kit I put together as part of the counterfeit kit challenge.  Here's what I created using the kit this past week:

This one was based on the February sketch from Shimelle's 4x6 Photo Love class.

This was for a challenge on another board to be inspired by this layout on the American Crafts blog. I loved the design of the orginal layout, so I did a pretty straightforward scraplift.

And finally this was based on a card by Kristina Werner.  I love her designs, and her steady stream of how-to videos!

Counterfeit Kit Challenge

I've been following the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog since it started back in January, but I have yet to participate...until now! This month I actually got around to creating a kit!  The "inspiration kit" for this month is A Little Birdie Told Me by Front Porch Kits.  I loved their paper selection, and I did have some "For the Record" papers by Echo Park in my own stash. I used those, and added some other papers by Bo Bunny and Scenic Route.

I was able to match the card stock colors pretty closely. I also included a For the Record sticker sheet and Journaling Cards, Sticky Back Canvas (to replace the burlap in the original kit), Cosmo Cricket chipboard letters, and Basic Grey & My Mind's Eye transparencies.

For the embellishments, I pulled out a lot of bare chipboard (flowers, birds, trees, etc.); ribbon in pinks, yellow, and cream; assorted paper and silk flowers; journaling cards; a fabric handkerchief; and random homemade butterfly and pinwheel accents I had in my stash.

I'm happy with the results! Time to start scrapbooking!
